Saxophone Summit Sextet
Michael Janisch, a native of USA, now lives in London and has quickly established a reputation as a creator of top class collaborations between musicians in the USA and UK. Tonight's sextet is fronted by 3 top flight sax men. Joel Frahm USA has long standing musical relationships with Maynard Ferguson, the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and Brad Meldhau with whom he recorded a duo album in 2004. Nigel Hitchcock has enjoyed first call status in the UK jazz scene and Alex Garnett has worked with Ray Gelato's Giants and regularly with Jules Holland and Van Morrison. The sextet will provide exciting and accessible straight ahead jazz ranging from bebop to contemporary. The group will mix sextet, quintet and quartet numbers with a backing of a top class rhythm section.
